John Dalton
Maybe you will learn a new word today! Class at Academy of Shaolin Kung Fu at 7pm tonight. On this day in 1776 John Dalton was born. He studied physics, chemistry, meteorology, and colorblindness (he was colorblind himself). He is considered one of the great contributors to atomic theory, being the first to provide a method to for calculating relative atomic weights. He was one of the first to devise a way (he used barometry) to measure the height of mountains. Many of his methods have held up over time and inform the way science is done today, while others were disproven, some even in his lifetime. He is known as a skilled and precise experimenter who trusted his own methods and results more than any others, sometimes to a fault.
